Custom Cabinetry by Bill Thesing

Custom Cabinets by Bill Thesing Do you have the desire for something built really well, or something that is different from the norm? Did you see something somewhere, and it triggered a desire for a use unique to you?

In our shop, we can offer almost unlimited capability in custom cabinetry and components, along with almost limitless finishes. It is all possible with your ideas coupled with our expertise.

Custom Cabinets by Bill Thesing Our cabinetry is 100% all wood construction, and we are not talking “featherweights”! Basic construction is 3/4”solid hardwoods and veneer core cabinet grade plywood with ½”backs. I have heard joking comments from clients that they help hold their house together. All joinery is interlocking mortise and tenon, dado, rabbet, and box corner. I can often build superior cabinets than some of the “higher end” brand names at a lower cost. I am not just limited to kitchen cabinetry, but also can fabricate many accessories, furniture, wall units and vanities. What you see below are only a few examples of what is possible. Again, all layouts are done with our computer design.

Project:

Recent home purchase requiring changes to larger kitchen area.

Fabricate new replacement cabinetry above range to accommodate microwave oven installation.
Fabricate new base cabinet to replace unused “desktop” area. New countertop to be solid maple butcher-block

Fabricate “wall unit” cabinetry in area of kitchen that was not utilized. This wall unit was for display of fine china as well as a cookbook library. The drawer space created was for better silverware and additional storage of not often used kitchen accessories. Countertop fabricated to match existing tops throughout kitchen. This wall unit was designed to remain unto itself when the other cabinetry is eventually replaced.

Special considerations:
Match to existing discontinued “Aristocraft” cabinet line, and substantially improve on quality of cabinet construction. Match to “Whitewashed Oak” finish, and artificially age finish 15 years. This is one of the more difficult undertakings in custom cabinetry.

Outcome:
Client was pleased far beyond all expectations. We have since been recommended to several neighbors, interior designers, and have also designed and completed several larger projects for other family members.

Problem: Build lower custom cabinets as serving and entertainment area to match upper cabinets that were discontinued by manufacturer. Complications were that upper cabinet finish had “aged” 15 years, and new cabinets could not block baseboard heat register.

Designed and built cabinets to “float” off floor, while still being supported by wall and floor due to weight of quartz countertop. Also “aged” finish to match. Also improved construction as compared to originals considerably. One of the most difficult types of projects is matching pre-existing as well as matching the finish when the original formulas are unknown. This is accomplished by sheer experience.

Designed and built

Designed and built this kitchen for a lady who loves “blue”.
Somewhat large kitchen with 27 cabinets – all solid maple.
Installed cabinetry, tile, custom moldings, wainscoting.
Also refinished table and chairs to go better with “blue scheme”
This is one of my “Crown Jewel “ kitchens. I also saved this lady about $ 20,000 overall, and provided a far superior cabinet as compared to my closest “quality” competitor.
